EnStorage, inc. was founded to develop and commercialize energy storage systems, based on technology developed for over 10 Years by Prof. Emanuel Peled and his team.

Senior Management

Dr. Arnon Blum - Founder & VP Research & Development

Arnon Blum has years of experience in research and development experience in the field of fuel cells in both industry and the academic world. Prior to founding EnStorage, Dr. Blum served as testing department manager at Medis Technologies., responsible for testing and evaluation of Medis products Prior to that, he was the CTO of Green Fuel cells, where he developed portable fuel cell for notebook applications. Dr. Blum received his PhD and MBA degree at Tel-Aviv University. He published 4 scientific papers, 3 patents as well as over 10 conference publications in the area of fuel cells.

Prof. Emanuel Peled - Founder & Chief Science Officer

Emanuel Peled, Professor of Chemistry at Tel-Aviv University, specializes in Fuel Cells and batteries. Emanuel published over 140 papers and 30 patents and patent pending in the fields of batteries and fuel cells. From 2003 he is the chairman of the Fuel Cells and Battery Center (funded by Israel MOS) and the incumbent of the Nathan Cummings Chair of Pure and Applied Electrochemistry.

Erez Ofer - Director

Erez has been the visionary behind some of the most strategic moves of EMC Corporation - one of today's most admired technology firms, including EMC's transition from a mainframe focus to open systems, and, the entry of EMC into the software business. Ofer formerly served as executive vice president in charge of technology strategy for EMC Corporation, reporting to president and CEO Joe Tucci. In this role Ofer defined EMC's future technology directions, advised the CEO and played a major role in the technical direction of the company's strategic partnerships and merger & acquisition activities. Erez currently serves on the Board of EnStorage, Camero, Precise Software and Actifio.

Eric Young - Director

Since co-founding Canaan in 1987, Eric has helped launch a multitude of market-leading companies from inception to IPO or acquisition. He was an early investor in Copper Mountain Networks (CMTN), whose technology led the 1990’s DSL wave in North America; ONI Systems, the leader in the revolutionary merging of the metro area voice and data communication that is the basis of Ciena’s current offerings (acquired by Ciena); and Kalpana, which introduced the concept of a multi-port Ethernet switch (acquired by Cisco Systems). Eric also generated numerous positive outcomes from his investments in high-performance companies such as Argon Networks, Capstone Turbine, Diffusion Software, Frame Technology, International Network Services, International Packaging Assembly, Spectrian and Visigenic Software.

Emmanuel Hernandez - Director

From April 2005 to November 2008, Mr. Hernandez served as the Chief Financial Officer of SunPower. He was instrumental in orchestrating SunPower's successful initial public offering in November of 2005 and has continued to guide the company's growing revenue, estimated to be more than $1.4 billion in 2008. Prior to April 2005, Mr. Hernandez served for more than 11 years as the Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer for Cypress Semiconductor, having joined that company in 1993 as its Corporate Controller. Prior to that, Mr. Hernandez held various financial positions with National Semiconductor Corporation from 1976 through 1993. Mr. Hernandez currently serves on the board of directors of Aruba Networks, MEMC and ON Semiconductor.

Dr. Henry Kressel - Director

Dr. Henry Kressel joined Warburg Pincus in 1983 where he focuses on technology and communications investments. Previously, he was the vice president at RCA Laboratories responsible for the worldwide research and development of microelectronics, power electronics and associated software. Dr. Kressel holds 31 U.S. patents covering various electronic and optoelectronic devices. He pioneered the development and commercial introduction of the first semiconductor lasers, which are the basis of fiber optic communications systems, DVDs and other consumer, industrial and military products. He is the recipient of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE) David Sarnoff Award for contributions to electronic devices. A graduate of Yeshiva College , Dr. Kressel received an M.S. from Harvard University , an M.B.A. from The Wharton School and a doctorate in engineering from the University of Pennsylvania . He received an honorary doctorate degree from Yeshiva University . He is an elected member of the National Academy of Engineering and is the founding president of IEEE Photonics Society. Dr. Kressel has served in an advisory capacity to NASA, the U.S. Air Force and the National Science Foundation. He is on the Boards of Enstorage, Inc., Mach Group, Sarnoff Corporation, SRI International, Suniva, Telcordia Technologies and is a trustee of Yeshiva University .

James Levy - Director

Mr. Levy joined Warburg Pincus in January 2006 and is based in New York , where he focuses on investments in the energy sector. He previously had worked as an Associate at Kohlberg & Company, a middle-market private equity investment firm focused on industrial manufacturing and services businesses, and as an Associate at Wasserstein Perella & Co, where he advised large corporations on M&A transactions. Mr. Levy received a B.A. in history from Yale University .  He serves on the Boards of Broad Oak Energy, EnStorage and Laredo Petroleum and also works with WP portfolio companies Antero Resources, Kosmos Energy and Suniva.
